London calling! Available in my online shop this week, is this LDN t-shirt featuring an original logo design by Bunbury Creative. LDN is a phone, geographic and colloquial abbreviation for London, and as a born-and-bred Londoner, I’ve always been fascinated with the graphic identities of cities. My earliest memory of this, is looking through my parents vinyl collection and being fixated at the 12″ sleeve of ‘I Love New York’ by Metropolis – probably late 70s/early […]
I don’t remember when I first saw Gene Wilder in ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’, but I do vividly remember when I first saw ‘Stir Crazy’, the 1980 film with Richard Pryor. I’m certain I was far too young to be watching it, but that didn’t stop me almost throwing up from laughing. I watched that film a hundred times, then ‘Young Frankenstein’, ‘Blazing Saddles’ all the way to bunking […]
Was doing some Photoshop training and practising yesterday, and it culminated in this exercise – a fake movie poster concept, firmly in the crime genre, and imaginatively titled ‘Crime Drama’. The poster is made entirely from public domain stock imagery, and behold the movie poster cliches! Strobes, flares, sparks oh my… I almost added rain but had to stop myself. Need a poster for your film from short to feature, or […]
So a few years ago I made poster art for a great US indie film called The Battery, starring, written and directed by Jeremy Gardner & produced by O’Hannah Films. Well Jeremy’s back with a new comedy-survivalist film called ‘Tex Montana Will Survive’, and a new distribution model on Kickstarter. Instead of trying to recoup the cost of movie-making through sales, the guys are going to release their film, for absolutely free right […]
With the news that my all-time, favourite car the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 is making a comeback in 2017, I thought I’d mock up a couple of press ads in tribute. And Stephen Wynne if you happen to be reading this – call me. All imagery used either public domain or Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license.
To the shock and general bemusement of the entire world, Kanye West appeared at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards and announced his 2020 presidential bid. While the news tilted the globe slightly off it’s axis, millions agreed that a prospective run by the superstar would still be an improvement on Donald Trump. He’s not no politician, bro! So get a head start on the campaign trail with this ‘Vote Kanye’ […]
OK following Lenny Kravitz’s hilarious on-stage ‘Wardrobe Malfunction’ AKA #Penisgate this week, I had an idea and couldn’t resist doing a mock-gig poster for his current Strut tour… Sure It’s a bit racy, but marketing folk – this is SPUN GOLD here. Are you gonna go my way? (Sorry everyone)
Following the awful scenes at the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo today, I made this in support of free press and free speech. Though we may not always agree with opposing viewpoints on issues we are passionate about, an attack on these values is an attack on the right to criticise them in the first place. – GB
In support of the peaceful protests in New York and cities around the US, following the decision not to indict a New York police officer over the unjust death of Eric Garner, I made this “I Can’t Breathe” poster today. Garner said those words to officers 11 times before he lost consciousness, while being restrained in a illegal chokehold. Please feel free to circulate and a hi-res version is available here.
