Disturbed Press Campaign
- Client: Warner Music
- Skills: Press Advertising
Disturbed is a heavy metal band signed to Warner Music. I was approached to design a press campaign in support of their album “Asylum”, throughout a Disturbed cover-edition of leading rock title Kerrang. The campaign featured a challenge for readers to collect various clues throughout the magazine, leading them to a microsite offering prizes and exclusive content.
The client wanted a campaign that would be memorable yet fun, so the idea was to produce mock-adverts to sit within the classified pages, as well as more directly associated content. The ‘ads’ were designed to be as tongue-in-cheek as possible, a definite send-up of the sort of advert you might expect to find in such a publication. The faux-sex line ad was particularly successful in this regard, as well as the merchandise ad.
Designed to retain consistency between the album imagery and branding, the pieces needed to work on their own but have some connection with the overall creative direction of the larger campaign.
