In support of ongoing album releases from the Jimi Hendrix catalogue, Sony Music asked me to design press advertising across three different campaigns. Creating a template and a style guide with a view to future releases.
The brief in each case stipulated something sparse, economical and premium. In lieu of any style guides, I created a template whereby ads could retain their purpose, but appear as a part of a consistent whole. For the catalogue ad I devised a clearer tagline – “complete the experience” – making the communication punchier and relevant. Typography needed to be clean and unfussy, and natural copy space exploited within the main image in each ad.
