  • Client: Mabox/Reed Group
  • Skills: Branding

Reed is one of the largest employment agencies in the United Kingdom, with presence across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. In 2010 the recruitment agency chain celebrated 50 years in the business. They employed marketing agency Mabox to devise a sub-brand celebrating their achievement. The sub-brand would have placement on all printed and online collateral, marketing and PR initiatives. I was tasked with the design of the sub-brand, which was intended to function as a mark or a badge.

The branding needed to be simple, consistent with the Reed brand as a whole, and adaptable to various territories across Europe. After my initial concepts the client settled on the most visually economic iteration, and I developed the full suite of logos, brand guidelines and supporting collateral from print to online.

“Reed Specialist Recruitment is very rarely found looking backwards. But sometimes the big anniversaries offer a good moment to reflect. When Alec Reed opened his first branch on Baker Street, London in 1960, JFK was running for president in the USA. Fidel Castro had initiated the Cuban Revolution. Cassius Clay won a gold medal at the Rome Olympics. And tin cans were first used commercially for food and beverages. The small recruitment business started by Alec Reed in 1960 has also changed and now stands as a global organisation with 400 branches and 3,000 talented employees.”
