The Weight Radio Show Logo Design
- Client: Frission Radio
- Skills: Branding
The Weight is a new internet radio show on the Frission Radio platform, hosted by DJ Dom Duchamp. I was asked to design a new logo and brand identity for the show, with applications over the main website, embedded music players and social media.
The start point for the identity, was the show’s previous use of the infinity symbol ‘∞‘. The DJ/host was already using the symbol typographically, so it was a logical step to extend this into a graphic identity. In terms of the objectives of the logo, it had to be visible and impactful at a small size as it’s primary usage would be web-based. It also needed to be adaptable as each broadcast would utilise different imagery based on the theme of the show.
From here several initial concepts were generated around iterations of the symbol and typographical executions. Once the graphic symbol had been decided upon – a symbol drawn with a broken line in order to make the curve of the graphic more distinctive – it followed to then find a typeface that reflected that dynamic. We ended up modifying an existing font to fit the height and composition of the symbol.
From here the identity was rolled out into three key executions – the main logo, the symbol, and the header image. We undertook image research to find a selection of usable imagery which was then supplied to the client.
