Some new work to share! As we ramp up towards Christmas shopping season (not my favourite time of the year if I’m honest), the festive-themed jobs start popping up. So earlier this month I designed cover art and packaging for a new Susan Boyle album, A Wonderful World, for the good folks at Able Media and Sony Music UK/SycoA Wonderful World will be the seventh studio album by singer Susan Boyle. It is set to be released on 25 November 2016 by Syco Music and Columbia Records.

Following the release of previous album, Hope in 2014, Susan Boyle took a break during 2015 to “take a little me time and spend time at home with family and friends”, and thus the recording of her seventh studio album was postponed to 2016. In October 2016, Susan Boyle announced the release of A Wonderful World. Boyle said of the album: “I wanted to create an album that families could enjoy, something for everyone, an album that can be played all year and evoke memories. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge Madonna fan and to be able to perform ‘Like A Prayer’ was a real highlight”. The album features a “virtual duet” with late singer Nat King Cole, a first for a British artist.

I was called in when the team already had a creative direction, but the brief was rejigged to creative a more obviously Christmas-orientated product. Seeking graphic design support, I was called upon to produce a raft of creative concepts for the cover. But by the time the artwork was at final-approval phase with Syco, I was called away on another job. The folks at Able added the final tweaks to the cover (and the label changed the title slightly from the original one). I then came back on board to complete the CD jewel case packaging.
